Meet Darlene
Since this is my first blog post I thought it only fitting to introduce myself. I’ll make it brief. My name is Darlene and I’ve been tattooing for just under twenty five years. After ten years in this business I decided to pursue a knowledge of cosmetic and medical tattooing. I was sure it would be important for me to learn about it and now, all these years later, I know why. In addition to traditional tattooing it is still some of the most satisfying tattooing that I am fortunate to be able to do.
The service-oriented nature of this type of tattooing really speaks to me and helps me to work with people to affect real change. It’s a very personal way of working and it really impacts those who need it in a very real and immediate way. Weather it is areola reconstruction due to a mastectomy, top surgery or a breast reduction makes no difference to the wearer. The point is that a person can actively take part in getting back to themselves again and feeling whole.
The different types of reconstructive and cosmetic tattooing I do are areola reconstruction, phalloplasty reconstruction, scar camouflage, hair restoration, permanent makeup such as brows and lash enhancement treatments as well as working with vitiligo and any other hypo-pigmented skin. I have now been performing all these types of paramedical and cosmetic tattooing for fifteen years and I still enjoy learning new techniques and seeing how this type of tattooing can change lives.
My studio is a private, safe space so clients can come in and know that they have the room to have their experience and only share it with those of their choosing. We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual identity, gender identity, political identity or race. As a matter of fact it is an important part of the Odyssey Wellness Tattoo studio culture that we can offer this safe space to any and all who need it for their tattoo needs.
I am happy and grateful to be able to share my space and offer these services to everyone. Please feel free to drop by. We are mostly by appointment but every once in a while a human just pops in and that always feels good.
Thank you for reading this first blog post. Hope to see you soon!
